Watch: NY Crews Arrive to Heavy Fire Conditions in Home

Sept. 12, 2022
An Amazon worker alerted occupants who were inside the Syosset home and were unaware of the raging fire.

An Amazon worker saved several lives when he alerted a family to a fire in their Syosset home Saturday.

The driver, Kevin Rivera, saw fire engulfing the front porch when he jumped into action. Inside the Bluebird Drive home were five people, including a baby.

"My heart, it was just going crazy because I saw the baby and I saw the people and I didn't want them to die either," Rivera told News 12. "So, I just rushed in putting my life at risk.”

Chief 5802 found heavy fire engulfing the home when he arrived, calling a working fire.

Two hoselines were stretched from the first-due engine and Tower Ladder 582's master stream was used to knock down the bulk of the fire.
